The JV IceCats announced that two players are being recognized as JV All-Stars by the Illinois High School Hockey League - North Central Division. Mitchell Protus and Brenden Max will be participating in the All Star game on Saturday, January 5, 2019.
Freshmen Brenden Max is the definition of team player with a knack for making teammates believe in themselves. There is nothing Brenden enjoys more than seeing his teammates light the lamp. His combination of speed and vision provide a lethal combination for opposing teams. Brenden currently leads the team with 32 points on a balanced stat-line of 14 goals & 18 assists.
Sophomore Mitchell Protus has anchored the defense all season. His ability and speed allow him to play both offensively and defensively at a high level during the same shift. These skills position him well above his competitors. Going into the All-Star game he had notched 7 goals and 10 assists. His other exceptional strengths include his ability to set up a scoring chance with a long breakout pass and knowing when and how to check an opposing player to stop a scoring threat.
